Hard times fuel enrollment at Reno college

RENO -- A Reno college reports it could set another record for enrollment.
Truckee Meadows Community College says the unemployed are taking classes to bolster their résumés when jobs are hard to come by.
It says nearly 12,400 students are enrolled in fall classes, which started Saturday and expects to exceed last year's enrollment figure, which rose 6 percent.
College President Maria Sheehan says that bad economic times deplete a community college's budget but that the school has worked to keep cuts away from the classroom by combining administrative jobs and hiring adjunct faculty.
