Hit-and-run kills motorcyclist in eastern valley

A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident Saturday after being struck by a sport utility vehicle , Las Vegas police said.

Maria Mauricio-Martinez, 34, was arrested by police a few blocks away from the scene on charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run causing an injury or death. She is being held in jail.

Police said the accident happened about 3 p.m. Saturday near Lamb Boulevard and Washington Avenue in the eastern part of the valley. A police news release said Mauricio-Martinez pulled out into the path of the motorcycle, which was traveling south of Lamb.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old Las Vegas man who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
