Police: Woman killed while jaywalking

A 61-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed Tuesday while jaywalking across Lake Mead Boulevard west of Buffalo Drive.

She was identified as Karen Marie Bohnsack-Wood of Las Vegas by the Clark County coroner's office.

Las Vegas police said that at 6:13 p.m., Bohnsack-Wood was crossing Lake Mead from south to north and walked into the path of a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound in the left lane. She was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver of the Volkswagen, 22-year-old Maggi Goldman, was not injured. It was the 10th fatal accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.

Office IDs man who died at McCarran

The man who died Monday while working on the Terminal 3 roadway project at McCarran International Airport has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Byron Souza.

The Las Vegas Paving Corp. employee was fatally injured about 11 a.m. in an accident involving a compact motorized earth-moving shovel, officials said Monday.

The 25-year-old Las Vegan died of blunt force trauma to the head. His death was ruled an accident.
