Pedestrian hit, killed by car ID'd as teen
A pedestrian who died April 16 after a car drifted onto a sidewalk and hit him has been identified as Carlos Caballero Jr., 15, of North Las Vegas.
The teen was walking about 9:30 p.m. April 15 along Lake Mead Boulevard near Nellis Boulevard when a 1995 Honda Del Sol driven by Omar Hurtada-Mayo, 36, left the road and hit a chain-link fence, a wooden power pole and Caballero, police said.
Caballero was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.
FACILITY WILL BE REMODELED
North Las Vegas library to close for month
One of North Las Vegas' two libraries will close for nearly a month beginning Monday for remodeling.
The North Las Vegas Library at 2300 Civic Center Drive will be closed until May 24, the city said. The facility will receive new flooring and shelving and an electrical upgrade to accommodate more public computers.
The Aliante Library at 2400 Deer Springs Way will maintain regular hours.
