Baby girl left unattended in vehicle dies in Kingman, Ariz.
A 2½-month-old girl left unattended in a vehicle for five hours died in Kingman, Ariz., on Monday.
Police Lt. Rusty Cooper said the temperature inside the vehicle was more than 100 degrees.
Cooper said the 21-year-old father forgot that his daughter was in the vehicle when he arrived home about
10:30 a.m. He parked in the driveway and went into his residence in the 3200 block of Calumet.
Cooper said the man later remembered he had left his daughter, and the infant was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Names of the parties are withheld initially, and Child Protective Services has been notified.
Cooper said no one was arrested.
He said the Mohave County attorney’s office will determine whether charges will be filed.
Names of off-duty officer and man killed in shooting released
A gun-wielding man killed Friday by an off-duty Henderson police officer was identified Monday by the Clark County coroner’s office.
Ruslan Zhgenti, 38, from Henderson, was shot and killed by the off-duty officer during a domestic dispute at a home near Seven Hills Drive and Lizard Leaf Drive.
Zhgenti confronted his estranged wife about 1:15 a.m., Henderson police said.
Zhgenti did not live at the house, police said. He entered and confronted the two people with a handgun. The off-duty officer, a 32-year-old North Las Vegas resident, grabbed his own handgun and fired at Zhgenti, killing him.
Henderson officials identified the off-duty officer as Edward Little, who has been with the department since 2008.
Kathy Blaha, a spokeswoman with the city, said the incident is under investigation. After the investigation is concluded, it will be determined whether any charges will be filed.
Little used a personal weapon, not his department-issued handgun, police said. Police described his relationship with the woman as a friendship.
The house is registered to a Sabina Iskenderova. Records show she bought the house new in 2002 with Zhgenti.
The incident was the fourth officer-involved shooting by Henderson police this year.
Little has been placed on paid routine administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
