Inmate, 73, dies in Nevada prison

A 73-year-old inmate serving a life sentence died on Monday at the Regional Medical Facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center of a prolonged illness, officials said.

The Nevada Department of Corrections reported that inmate Lawrence Schultz was incarcerated on June 11, 1978. He was committed from Clark County for first-degree murder and was serving life without parole.

The Carson City coroner’s office responded to the facility, and an autopsy will be conducted.
