A man who was pulled from Lake Mohave and later died was identified Monday as 49-year-old Matthew S. Santistevan of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., the National Park Service said.
The park service said Santistevan was with his wife and several friends Sunday afternoon at the lake near Newberry Cove.
After beaching, Santistevan went wading, the park service said. After a few minutes, his friends noticed he went missing and Santistevan was found unresponsive in six to 10 feet of water.
His friends pulled him to shore and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation that was continued by rangers and medics. Santistevan was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m.
The Clark County coroner is conducting an autopsy.
