Landscaper helps victim out of burning apartment

An apartment fire sent a father and son to the hospital late Thursday morning after it burned two units.

Crews responded just before 11 a.m. to the Latigo Apartments near Eastern Avenue and Silverado Ranch Boulevard, said a Clark County Fire Department spokesman.

A landscaper who had been working nearby helped a person out of the burning unit. Firefighters found him laying outside.

Both victims were transported to University Medical Center with burn injuries, according to the fire department spokesman.

The fire in the ground-floor unit spread into the unit above, which suffered minimal damage.

The fire caused $65,000 in damages to the units. The cause has not yet been determined.
