Las Vegas police investigate former NFL star charged with rape in Los Angeles

Las Vegas police are investigating former NFL player Darren Sharper, charged Friday in Los Angeles with two counts of rape by use of drugs, on similar charges.

Metro spokesman Jose Hernandez said a sexual assault investigation into Sharper is “active and ongoing,” although he could not release specific details. The case will be submitted to the Clark County District Attorney’s office for review after it’s completed.

The former New Orleans Saint is accused of drugging and raping women in two separate events, the latest in Los Angeles on Jan. 14, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was arrested Jan. 17.

Sharper is accused of raping women in California, Arizona, Louisiana and Nevada, according to the Times.

Sharper, 38, was spotted partying at Haze nightclub at the Aria hotel-casino with boxing champ Sugar Shane Mosley last month.
