Las Vegas police officer kills himself in parking garage

An off-duty Las Vegas police officer killed himself in a casino parking garage Friday night.

Metro officer Harold Byron Twigg, 44, shot himself about 11 p.m. in the parking garage of the Fiesta Rancho Casino in North Las Vegas, according to authorities.

North Las Vegas police confirmed their ongoing investigation but declined to release more details until the Clark County coroner officially releases the man’s name and cause of death.

Twigg was leaving former Metro Capt. David O’Leary’s retirement party. O’Leary recently retired in the wake of an internal investigation for arranging a private ride in a department helicopter for a rock star’s wedding proposal.

Twigg reportedly shot himself after a heated argument with his wife, Stacy Twigg, who is also a Metro officer.

Harold Twigg was hired at the department in 1997. His wife joined Metro in 2000. The couple lived in Henderson.
