“Life in a Day” premieres later today on YouTube
It's showtime! Well, almost.
The movie "Life in a Day," which chronicles life on July 24, 2010, as seen through the eyes of thousands of video camera lenses, is set to premiere at 8 p.m. EST today at www.youtube.com/lifeinaday/. (That’s 5 p.m. in our Pacific time zone.)
The film, produced by Ridley Scott and Kevin MacDonald, also will debut at the Sundance Film Festival today and will be scheduled for theatrical release later this year. Today's YouTube showing is the only chance for viewers in America to see the film before it hits theaters. Another showing is scheduled for viewers outside the U.S. for 7 p.m. Friday, in your local time zone. I'm not sure whether U.S. computer users will also have access then.
I plan to be at my computer this evening, since footage I contributed made the preliminary cut for inclusion in the film. I don't know whether the minute-long clip showing my morning ritual of feeding the four desert tortoises that live in my yard made the final cut.
The call for footage attracted 80,000 video clips from across the world. That's more than 4,500 hours (187 days worth!), which was whittled down to the final 90-minute movie.
I'll let you know if my clip made it. Hope you'll watch!
