A Las Vegas man is in critical condition and a Las Vegas police officer received minor injuries after the officer’s car collided with the man’s vehicle on Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road on Wednesday night, police said.
Las Vegas police said 47-year-old Raymond Yeghiazarian was westbound on Sahara in a 2004 Toyota Corolla and was trying to turn south on Fort Apache at about 11 p.m. At the same time, a 25-year-old police officer in a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria was eastbound on Sahara.
Yeghiazarian had a green light but failed to yield to the officer, police said. The front of the Ford struck the right side of the Toyota. Both drivers were taken to University Medical Center.
The officer was treated and released and Yeghiazarian remains in critical condition.
Police said Yeghiazarian’s failure to yield the right of way caused the accident.
