LV woman dies in wreck

A Las Vegas woman in her mid-40s died after crashing her car about 6:20 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound Las Vegas Beltway approaching Sunset Road on the airport connector, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The woman, whose name was withheld, steered her newer model Toyota Corolla sharply to the right, causing her car to rotate clockwise off the road and into a disabled green Ford Expedition that was on a jack on the paved shoulder of the road, trooper Kevin Honea said.

The woman had to be cut out of her car and was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. She had not been wearing her seat belt, Honea said.

He said troopers were interviewing witnesses to try find out whether the woman had been cut off by another vehicle.
