Man struck, killed crossing street is ID’d by coroner

A Las Vegas man killed Sunday after being struck by a car while crossing the street was identified Tuesday.

Timothy R. McGhie, 59, died from multiple injuries sustained in the accident, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

Las Vegas police said the accident happened at 8:42 p.m. when McGhie tried to cross Lake Mead Boulevard from north to south, just west of Valley Drive.

McGhie was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a Ford Explorer. He was then struck again by a white sport utility vehicle, which fled the scene before emergency personnel arrived, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information on the white SUV is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 385-5555 or Detective Mike Laythorpe at 828-3342.
