Mayweather had the betting spirit

Facing 90 days in jail before he got a reprieve, how did Floyd Mayweather Jr. spend what would have been last days of freedom?

Based on his Twitter feed, he was betting like there was no tomorrow.

He had the betting spirit on Christmas Eve. He ran a photo that indicated a $400,000 straight bet on the San Francisco 49ers. It paid $347.826.10 when the 49ers beat Seattle, 19-17.

Here’s the countdown:

Friday — About 8 a.m., before going to court, he tweeted what appeared to be a photo from after one of his fights, with Mayweather embracing three children while holding a championship belt. The only word he tweeted was “#family.”

Nearly 12 hours later, it was his only tweet of a tumultuous day that saw Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa rule Mayweather could postpone his 90-day jail term until June 1.

Thursday — His lone tweet read: “#TheMoneyTeam taking care of the less fortunate.” The accompanying photo showed him and members of his entourage serving food at what appeared to be a cafeteria.

Wednesday — “Just picked this guy up,” he said in one of four tweets that showed a new white gull-winged megaluxury car, which carries a price tag of about $200,000. Also that day, he tweeted: “2 days Before New Year’s Day I sat court side to see D.Rose vs. @CP3 but I still made a bet.” Accompanying the tweet was a betting slip that showed a $30,000 halftime bet on the Bulls, apparently made by a friend.

Tuesday — He tweeted an image of a betting slip that showed a $220,000 straight bet on Alabama’s basketball team. The bet paid $200,000. Rapper 50 Cent tweeted that day: “I just left from checking on my boy @FloydMayweather he good.”

Monday — At 8:14 a.m., a $30,000 straight-up football bet on the University of Houston’s football team to outscore Penn State in the first half.

New Year’s Eve — An $80,000 straight-up halftime bet on Auburn’s football team in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Virginia.

Dec. 29 — He took his mother to N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms for her birthday.

Dec. 28 — A photo of a straight-up bet on Texas’ basketball team to win. He risked $50,000 to win $38,461.44.

Dec. 26 — “Me, Jerry Jones and President Bush in Jerry’s suite,” under a photo from Texas Stadium.
