Motorcycle-pedestrian crash leaves 2 dead near downtown

Two men are dead after a motorcycle-pedestrian crash near Downtown Las Vegas early Saturday morning, according to police.

Officers were called about 12:30 a.m. to a wreck on Eastern and Canosa avenues, south of Oakey Boulevard, Metro said.

David Ivan Ramey, 23, of Las Vegas, was riding south on a black 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 750 in the left lane of Eastern, approaching Canosa, when a pedestrian, believed to be in his 40s, was crossing the southbound lanes of Eastern in an unknown direction.

The motorcycle struck the pedestrian and both men were thrown onto the road, police said.

Ramey was pronounced dead at 4:05 a.m., according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Police did not say whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash. He wasn’t identified by the coroner’s office on Saturday.

These were the 58th and 59th traffic-related fatalities in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
