MountainView Hospital wins medical malpractice verdict

Jurors deliberated about two hours this afternoon before returning a verdict in favor of MountainView Hospital in a medical malpractice case.

The lawsuit was filed by survivors of Morton Scheinbaum, a 59-year-old Las Vegas man who died on Nov. 4, 2005, in the hospital's emergency department.

The plaintiffs claimed the nursing staff's negligence that night caused Scheinbaum to suffer a fatal heart attack, but the jury disagreed.

"We don't think it was proven that the hospital caused his death," jury foreman John Darin said.
