Woman found in trash compactor in luxury NY apartment

NEW YORK — A 48-year-old woman has been found dead inside a trash compactor at a luxury apartment building in lower Manhattan.

Police discovered her body just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at the 29-story Zeckendorf Towers near Union Square.

Police say the woman was unconscious and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It wasn’t clear how she ended up in the trash compactor.

Her identity has not yet been released.
