North Las Vegas, Henderson mayors face election challengers

Voters throughout southern Nevada will cast ballots in municipal elections today. Although it is a primary election, races in which there are only two candidates or in which one candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote will be decided without a general election.

There are mayoral races in North Las Vegas and Henderson.

In North Las Vegas incumbent Mayor Shari Buck faces challengers John Lee, Sharon Belger and Mike Hunter.

In Henderson incumbent Andy Hafen faces challengers Kyler Robinson, Jerry Sakura, Eddie “In Liberty” Hamilton, Joe Scala, Clayton Simmons, and Rick Workman.

Council seats are also on the ballot in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson.

In Las Vegas, Ward 2 incumbent Councilman Bob Beers faces challenger Fayyaz Raja; in Ward 4 incumbent Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony faces challenger Frank Geary and in Ward 6 incumbent Councilman Steve Ross faces challengers Suzette LaGrange and Paul Rodriguez.

In Henderson Ward 3 Councilman John Marz faces challengers Bruce Cutler, Milt E. Doyle and Erin Lale.

In North Las Vegas the four candidates are seeking the open Ward 1 council seat are Isaac Eloy Barron, Jeff Eggeman, Jared T. Hardy and Juan Martinez; in Ward 3 incumbent Councilwoman Anita Wood faces challengers Tony Gales and Janice Ridondo.

There is also a judicial race on the ballot in Henderson. Incumbent Department 1 Judge Mark Stevens faces challengers Sandra Allred DiGiacomo, Gary D. Thompson and Terry Jones Zach.
