North Las Vegas man hospitalized after fire destroys home

A North Las Vegas man was hospitalized with minor injuries after a fire destroyed his home Monday afternoon.

North Las Vegas firefighters responded to the call about 2 p.m. near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pecos Road.

Firefighters extinguished the fire within minutes, but the house was considered a total loss. Damages are estimated at about $185,000,

According to Capt. Cedric Williams of the North Las Vegas Fire Department, the fire was accidental with no malicious intent suspected. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The American Red Cross is helping the man and his grandmother search for alternative housing.
