Nuggets fall short of century mark
July 12, 2008 - 7:17 pm
Denver nearly became the first team in seven games of this year’s Summer League to break 100 points, as the Nuggets raced to a 99-85 victory over Philadelphia.
Duke product Dahntay Jones had 21 points to lead the Nuggets. Sonny Weems added 17 points, and Elton Brown had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Thaddeus Young had a game-high 22 points for the 76ers. Colorado State alum Jason Smith had 15 points and eight fouls. He is now averaging nine fouls per game in two contests.
We now have a list of all the current players who have stopped by Cox Pavilion over the first two days to watch some of the action. Leon Powe, Quentin Richardson, Marcus Camby, J.R. Smith, Gerald Wallace, Sean May and Raymond Felton have all been here. Also spotted were Ron Artest, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Andre Iguodala, Anthony Parker, Kevin Martin, Patrick O’Bryant, Maurice Evans, Jason Richardson and Antoine Wright.
Several others with NBA ties -- including former players now in the coaching ranks or in front-office positions -- have also been out here, including former UNLV star Reggie Theus, Nick Van Exel, Popeye Jones, Mo Cheeks, Dave Cowens, Mario Elie, Joe Dumars, Chuck Person, Don Nelson, Scott Skiles, Rick Carlisle, Sam Mitchell, John Thompson, Byron Scott, Larry Brown, George Karl and Mike Dunleavy.
