One northbound lane of Interstate 15 is closed after a single-automobile accident Friday evening, a spokesman for the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred at 6:50 p.m. near mile marker 66, about 12 miles north of the Las Vegas Speedway.
Police spokesman Kevin Honea said a white Ford Explorer was traveling in the right lane of the interstate when the left rear tire of the SUV separated. The car drove off the right side of the highway, broke through a fence and rolled before coming to a stop.
Five occupants in the car, believed to be a family from Las Vegas, were transported to University Medical Center with injuries described as not life-threatening, Honea said.
The right lane of the highway will be closed while police finish their investigation.
