A head-on collision 20 miles north of Lake Havasu City claimed the lives on an Oregon couple Sunday.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating how an eastbound Geo Tracker ended up in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40.
Department of Public Safety officials said the sedan struck an oncoming pickup truck about a half-mile from the interchange of I-40 and Arizona State Route 95 at about 3:30 p.m.
The agency said the driver of the Geo, Harvey Young, 87, Ontario, was dead at the scene of the collision. Authorities said his wife, Clara, 73, died after she was transported to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.
The pickup truck driver was not injured.
