Penn takes on champion St. Pierre

Not sure who is singing BJ Penn’s intro music, sounds like Don Ho. But it doesn’t have to get my juices flowing, just Penn’s.

He enters first.

The chants of “GSP” are moments away.

Here comes Quebec’s greatest athlete who doesn’t use a stick. Georges St. Pierre has the international flair going for him. His music is – I think – French-Canadian rap.

Everyone is standing, except us reporters.

St. Pierre enters the Octagon wearing very tight, very short black trunks. Penn’s reach his knees.

It’s BJ vs. GSP.

Penn is trying to add the UFC welterweight title to the lightweight title he holds.

They’ve fought once before and St. Pierre won a controversial decision.

It’s time .....

ROUND 1: They’re locked up against the fence. St. Pierre throws a few knees, no damage but he’s got Penn’s left leg and pushes him along the fence. Penn throws a short right and then more short rights.

This is five rounds and neither fighter is in a hurry. Penn breaks away.

They trade punches. Back to locking up. St. Pierra has his left leg in and again but St. Pierre can’t take him down. They break again.

Now 1:30 left. St. Pierre showing some redness on the left side of his face. St. Pierre with a good left jab.

They’re against the fence again. Good knee to the chest by Penn.

Very quick hands by St. Pierre who was the agressor.

Wolf says: St. Pierre.
