Four more candidates applied for the vacant Assembly District 17 seat in the Legislature Monday, bringing the total number of applicants to seven.
Clark County commissioners will select a new legislator to replace ousted Assemblyman Steven Brooks at their April 16 meeting. The legislator will represent the district for the rest of the 2013 legislative session.
The four new candidates, all from North Las Vegas, are Meli Pulido, executive director of Project 150, a non-profit organization that helps homeless students; Michelle Jotz, an internal affairs detective for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department; Glynn Coleman, a career specialist; and William Robinson II, a banker.
Other applicants include North Las Vegas residents Odis “Tyrone” Thompson, Fred Young and Kelly Thomas.
Candidates must be registered Democrats and residents of the district. The deadline for candidates to apply is 5 p.m. Tuesday.
