Rampaging elephant flips car and driver out of the way

A British woman has been released from the hospital after being injured when an elephant overturned her car in South Africa on Dec. 30.

Video of the encounter was recorded by tourists in the car behind Sarah Brooks, who was on a safari with another tourist.

The video shows Brooks slowly approach an elephant in the middle of a dirt road in Kruger National Park. She stops to wait for the elephant to cross, and the elephant turns toward her car.

The elephant then rolls the car over, trapping Brooks and her partner inside.

The tourists filming the incident were plainly shocked and can be heard in the video saying, “Stop the car … reverse, reverse, they’re going to die.”

The couple were taken to the hospital and later discharged, according to Sky News. The elephant was killed due to its “inexplicable” behavior.
