Reno man in custody in wife’s slaying on Christmas Day

RENO -- A Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the death of his wife during a Christmas Day domestic dispute.

Police said 28-year-old Salvador Rico-Rivas was released from a Reno hospital on Saturday and then booked into the Washoe County Jail. He also was arrested on charges of domestic battery and violation of a restraining order.

Investigators say he was the subject of a restraining order and had been ordered to stay away from the home where Marisol Galindo-Rico, 26, lived.

Police responded to the Dyer Way home on the morning of Dec. 25 and found both the man and woman unresponsive on the floor.

The woman died, while her husband was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He is in jail without bail.
