Social-media matriarch dies in England
News of the early morning death of Ivy Bean, arguably the oldest person using Facebook and Twitter, died early today at age 104 in Bradford, England.
Ivy, who tweeted about her friends, her press coverage and her Friday ritual lunch of fish and chips, died at 12:08 a.m. today. Ivy had 57,133 followers on Twitter. By 10:50 a.m. PDT the number had swelled to more than 59,000. Her handle is @IvyBean104.

A tweet posted by Pat Wright, manager of Hillside Manor, where Ivy lived, reads: "Ivy passed away peacefully at 12.08 this morning." It was followed by: "I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you but it was a very difficult thing to do."
