A now-defunct metal plating company in Sparks was fined $30,000 for violating the Clean Water Act by discharging highly acidic waste into a sewer that empties into the Truckee Meadows sewage treatment plant.
Greg Street Plating Inc. pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment for the criminal violation which occurred in 2003, according to a Justice Department statement last week.
