Three repeat winners in Nevada tourism contest

CARSON CITY — The final votes have been tallied and three Nevada sites are repeat winners in this year’s state tourism contest.

The Star Hotel and Basque Restaurant in Elko, Nevada Northern Railway in Ely and the Dangberg Home Ranch in Minden all claimed top honors in their respective tourism territories. All were winners in the inaugural competition last year.

Other tourism “treasurers” announced Monday in the Discover Your Nevada contest are the Lost City Museum in Overton, Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas and Pahrump Valley Winery.

Nominations began July 3, followed by two rounds of online voting.

The contest sponsored by the Nevada Commission on Tourism is designed to encourage Nevadans to get out and explore their own backyard.
