Construction of a bridge expansion project will prompt a temporary closure of the ramps between the McCarran International Airport connector and the eastbound lanes of Interstate 215 overnight Sunday to Monday morning, Clark County officials said.
From 7 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, traffic will be diverted from both the northbound ramp, which takes traffic off eastbound I-215 to the airport, and the southbound ramp, which takes traffic out of the airport to eastbound I-215.
During the eight-hour closure, the westbound I-215 ramp to the airport will not be affected and will serve as a detour. Eastbound I-215 traffic will be detoured to the Warm Springs Road exit and back onto I-215 to use the westbound ramp.
Traffic exiting the airport tunnel to westbound I-215 will not be affected. Traffic headed eastbound on I-215 will be detoured to exit at Hidden Well Road and then turn south on Gilespie Street to Warm Springs, where it can reaccess I-215.
The airport connector bridge is the first of five bridges to be expanded as part of the Clark County Public Works’ federally funded Interstate 215 Airport Connector Phase 1. The project is expected to be completed in January 2014.
Bridges over Paradise Road, Warm Springs, Robindale Road and Duck Creek also will be expanded as part of the project.Find Road Warrior Joe Hawk on Twitter @RJroadwarrior
