Two educational exhibits currently on display at Luxor
July 16, 2009 - 9:00 pm
The Luxor has two educational exhibits currently on display: "Bodies ... The Exhibition" and "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition."
"Bodies ...The Exhibition" showcases more than 275 body specimens. These real human bodies have been meticulously dissected, preserved through an innovative process and respectfully presented, giving visitors the opportunity to view the beauty and complexity of their own organs and systems.
In addition to providing an up-close look inside our skeletal, muscular, respiratory and circulatory systems, the exhibition encourages healthy lifestyle choices by serving as a wake-up call. Authentic human specimens illustrate the damage caused to organs by overeating and lack of exercise. A healthy lung is featured next to a black lung ravaged by smoking in a vivid comparison more powerful than any textbook image.
Tickets to "Bodies ...The Exhibition" can be purchased at the Luxor box office or by visiting www.bodiestickets.com. Ticket prices are $31 for adults, $29 for seniors (65 and over), $23 for children (4-12 years old), free for children under 4 years old and $28 for Nevada residents and Luxor guests.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with last admission at 9 p.m. It is recommended that children 12 and under attend the exhibition with a teacher or parent as an adult guide.
"Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" showcases authentic artifacts recovered from 2.5 miles below the surface of the North Atlantic. Unique to the exhibition at Luxor is the crown jewel of the Titanic artifacts, the largest piece ever recovered -- the "Big Piece." This 30-ton piece of the Titanic's starboard hull took nearly two days and more than 40 hours to install in this blockbuster exhibition.
In addition, visitors will view more than 20 never-before-seen artifacts including gaming chips, passenger personal papers and decorative sections from Titanic's famed grand staircase.
Tickets for "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" are $27 for adults, $20 for children (4-12 years), free for children under 4 years old, $25 for seniors (65 and over) and $24 with a Nevada ID. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the last tickets being sold at 9 p.m.
