Valley under excessive heat warning for Friday, Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning from noon Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday for the Las Vegas Valley and elevations below 4,000 feet.

Forecasters say temperatures on Friday and Saturday may exceed 112 degrees. Temperatures will be higher along the Colorado River. Temperatures are expected to decrease slightly by Sunday, but they will still be above normal into next week.

During such a warning, valley residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun as much as possible.
