Washoe County buyouts to deal with shortfall total 86

Eighty-six veteran Washoe County employees, many of whom run services ranging from animal control to finances, have accepted buyouts to retire early.
County Manager Katy Simon told the Reno Gazette-Journal that their positions are being eliminated, and more staff cuts are looming to help deal with an estimated $6.8 million budget shortfall.
She said by the end of December, another 19 employees will be laid off .
