Who will they come for next, Winston Smith?

The nannies can’t let society take care of itself. No, they must pass laws telling the rest of us what to do and how to think.

Today’s Exhibit A is a bill offered in the New York state Assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright, a Manhattan Democrat.

The summary of A01474 reads, “Prohibits the sale to minors of certain rated video games containing a rating that reflects content of various degrees of profanity, racist stereotypes or derogatory language, and/or actions toward a specific group of persons.”

And you thought parents were responsible for their children?

But for us free-speech absolutists, the devil lies in the definitions.

What is profane? Darn?

What is a racist stereotype? Italian mobsters?

What is derogatory language to a nannie-stater?

First they come for video games, next will be music, newspapers, books, blogs and schools.

“They” can’t stand that we won’t tuck inside their mold.
