Las Vegas, NV — The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Ontario Reign 4-1 on Friday night in front of 4,802 fans at the Orleans Arena. Forwards J.D Watt, Chris Ferraro and Mike Hamilton, as well as defenseman Mike Madill each scored in the win. Goalie Martin Houle picked up his first victory with Las Vegas, holding the Reign scoreless for 56:19 and stopping 15 of 16 shots. Right wing Peter Ferraro and defenseman Bret Tyler each picked up two assists as Las Vegas ended a three-game winless skid. Las Vegas will play in Ontario on Saturday night at 7:00 pm.
Las Vegas scored just 8:49 into the game when rookie J.D Watt redirected a Michael Beynon shot for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 Las Vegas lead. Beynon picked up his first career assist on the goal.
The Wranglers doubled the lead at 8:26 of the third period. Center Chris Ferraro lifted a rebound into the back of the Ontario net for his first goal of the season and a 2-0 Las Vegas lead. Right wing Mike Hamilton scored off a breakaway at 10:07, pushing the Wranglers lead to 3-1. Center Adam Miller sprung Hamilton on the breakaway with a feed out of the Wranglers zone. Ontario’s Jon Francisco ended Martin Houle’s shutout bid, scoring his second goal of the year at 16:19 of the third period. Defenseman Mike Madill finished the scoring with a shorthanded, empty-net goal at 17:34 for the 4-1 final.
