Blaming Republicans for all the country’s ills

To the editor:

Once again Steve Sebelius has it all wrong. In his Friday column, "Fighting, and losing, the battles of yesterday," he accuses congressional Republicans of trying to destroy our health care, the Medicare program, the Social Security system and the U.S. Supreme Court.

The majority of Americans oppose ObamaCare and want it repealed. The majority of Americans want Congress to find a way to fix Medicare, which is rapidly on its way to bankruptcy. The majority of Americans want Congress to find a way to fix Social Security, which is heading for the cliff's edge almost as rapidly as Medicare.

And it wasn't the Republicans who were publicly admonishing the Supreme Court justices for their decisions or making veiled threats in anticipation of their ObamaCare ruling - it was our president.

It was also our president who strongly suggested that the Supreme Court should bow to the will of Congress, which passed this ObamaCare abomination by using legislative tricks and short cuts.

It would take an entire page of the paper to cover all the changes that could be made to save our health care system, Social Security and Medicare. I'm sure that if everyone put their heads together without the influence of lobbyists, the results would be astounding. I think that Mr. Sebelius' wonderful brain would be better used in this endeavor than wasted blaming Republicans for all the ills in the world.

The key element of a democracy is for the populace to be free to elect their representatives. Democrats are obviously opposed to that.
