Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo impressive under pressure

As I observe from afar the horrific events that occurred in your city the night of Oct. 1, I have been amazed by how your public officials have handled this matter. They have provided a calm yet assertive narrative to your city and the outside world.

In particular, the leadership provided by your sheriff, Joseph Lombardo, has been thorough and consistent. In the face of a situation that even a script writer would call unbelievable, he has been the needed voice to hold everything together.

As a resident of Los Angeles, who visits your city at least once a year, this horrific event and your city’s response to it has, if anything, made me feel more safe than usual about my future visits to Las Vegas. Thanks to all for this valuable lesson in how to handle the worst of life’s challenges.

Mr. Biden opened the border. He can close the border. If he does not have the authority to close the border, then he did not have the authority to implement his first action, that of opening the border.

As a lifelong Democrat, I agree with Cobey Du’bravo’s Wednesday letter in which he criticized Sen. Jacky Rosen’s campaign ad for implying she is a maverick Democrat.
