Doesn’t Harry Reid also have federal benefits?

To the editor:

You blew it, Harry Reid. You attacked the Angles because her husband has a retirement from the BLM, including insurance. After 35 years of my own public service to the Department of Defense, I receive a retirement — and I share that with my family, including a handicapped child.

And, yes, I do get insurance from the government — after I pay my monthly insurance premium, just like Mr. Angle.

There are about 120,000 of us here in Clark County who have “earned” our government pensions, and more than 100,000 additional military veterans. So are you calling all of us freeloaders? Shame, shame on you.

And you don’t get insurance from the government? Whose eyes do you think you are pulling the wool over? So go back to your Ritz-Carlton mansion and your limo driver and let us Nevadans who live here, trying to save our homes, get on with the business of cleaning up the mess you have made of our state.

So you hitchhiked from Searchlight when you were a kid. So what?

Military veterans and civilians such as myself spent our entire lives uprooting ourselves and our children to serve our country, and we don’t hide in the Ritz-Carlton. We are here in Nevada, still defending ourselves from an even bigger threat — Washington greed and government officials such as yourself who are totally self-serving and completely out of touch with our reality.

You surely don’t get my vote now, Sen. Reid.
