If you’ve considered taking advantage of a temporary increase in the water-smart landscape conversion rebate incentive, but have yet to put your plans into action, the time to get off your grass is now—because the clock is ticking!
Through the remainder of 2024, the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) is offering homeowners only a temporary increase in its Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program (WSL) cash incentive of $5 for each square foot of grass upgraded to water-efficient landscaping.
Beginning in 2025, the homeowner incentive will revert to $3 per square foot.
To qualify for the temporary increase, you must complete your project and have it approved by the SNWA Conservation Team before the end of the year. Enrolling in the program by October will provide time for you to participate in both a pre-conversion site visit (which is required before you remove your grass) and a post-conversion inspection.
What’s next? Not only will you get a nice rebate check, but you’ll reap other rewards for making your landscape water-smart:
- You’ll lower your water usage (and your monthly bills!)
- Your landscape will need much less maintenance
- And you’ll reduce the risk of incurring water-waste fees
In conjunction with the WSL rebate, and to provide much-needed shade in the community, the SNWA also is offering program participants a $100 bonus for every new tree installed (up to 100 percent canopy coverage) as part of their landscape conversion. Restrictions apply; a list of qualifying trees is available at snwa.com.
Already have trees in your landscape? Mature trees play a very important role in our community and can be disturbed during a landscape conversion. As you transition to a water-efficient landscape, it’s crucial to take the proper steps to protect them. To ensure trees thrive during your conversion hire a landscaper who can properly care for them. For a list of Water Smart contractors trained in water-efficient practices, visit snwa.com.
