Abracadabra! 5 impressive party tricks to help warm up your winter
(BPT) - It’s that time of year again— the excitement and stress of the holidays are over and the novelty of staying in for a cozy night of hot drinks and movies has worn off. You’ve read all the books on your list, binge-watched TV shows until your eyes hurt and, at this point, you couldn’t care less about sitting around one more fire.
It’s still cold outside, and you and all of your friends are more than a little stir-crazy. Cabin fever has set in. You need something new, something to revitalize the dreary few months before spring. You need something as magical as that Aflac Duck you’ve seen around, paying claims in just one day.

1. Sliced banana
- Poke a sewing needle into the skin of a banana, making sure it doesn’t go all the way through.
- Move the needle back and forth so it slices through the inner fruit.
- Perform the above steps multiple times along the length of the banana so when someone opens it, they’ll be surprised to find their banana has come pre-sliced! Don’t wait too long between prep and showtime on this one – or else the marks may turn brown and reveal your secret!
2. Make a coffee cup float
- Holding a foam cup, punch a hole in the side of it with your thumb.
- Insert your thumb in the hole so it can hold up the cup.
- Slowly open your hand, letting go of the cup. With your thumb in place, it will appear as if you’re making it float! Make sure to play up the theatrics on this one to distract your audience from your thumb as much as possible.
3. Easily turn a supplemental insurance claim into money

- Fill a plastic baggie with water and poke a ballpoint pen right through it.
- The molecules bond around the pen and create a seal so it won’t leak. Amazing!
