Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension – A Need for Greater Awareness [Infographic]

(BPT) - Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare and life-threatening disease caused by blood clots that increase blood pressure in the lungs and can lead to heart failure and death. CTEPH may evolve after prior episodes of acute pulmonary embolism (a sudden blockage in a lung artery). Because CTEPH is underdiagnosed and often misdiagnosed, Bayer HealthCare conducted a survey among primary care physicians, cardiologists and pulmonologists in the U.S. to better understand the typical patient pathway to diagnosis and treatment when it comes to lung disease, and identify any unmet needs that could improve patient care.
