(BPT) - Meningococcal disease is a rare but aggressive bacterial infection: about 10-15 percent of people infected with meningococcal disease will die, and 11-19 percent of survivors of meningococcal disease will have long-term consequences, including deafness, nervous system problems, brain damage or loss of limbs. Despite the dangers of this disease, two national online consumer polls demonstrated a knowledge gap amongst parents of young adults and young adults themselves surrounding the disease.
