51s can’t stop the bleeding, lose 10-4 to Albuquerque
June 11, 2016 - 11:00 pm
It took until the sixth inning Saturday night for the 51s to shut down the Albuquerque Isotopes. By that time, it was far too late.
The Isotopes plated runs in each of their first five innings and went on to a 10-4 Pacific Coast League beatdown of the 51s at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Isotopes got to 51s starter Robert Gsellman, who had a nightmare of a Triple-A debut. Albuquerque scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, one in the second and three in both the third and fourth. Gsellman lasted just three-plus innings, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and a pair of walks.
Albuquerque added a solo run in the fifth for a 10-1 lead.
The 51s scored the game’s final three runs — two in the sixth and one in the ninth — proving far too little too late.
It’s not as if the 51s’ bats went silent, though. They amassed 12 hits but left 11 runners on base.
Dilson Herrera, T.J. Rivera, Travis Taijeron and Danny Muno each had two hits for Las Vegas.

Update
After Friday night's game, manager Wally Backman announced outfielder Ty Kelly had been optioned by the Mets to the 51s. In order to make room on the roster, the 51s sent outfielder Kyle Johnson to Double-A Binghamton. Kelly had batted .240 with a home run and two RBIs in the majors. He was sent down when the Mets activated Kelly Johnson after acquiring him from the Atlanta Braves.
