51s edge Aces for fifth straight victory

Allan Dykstra went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs and Zach Lutz was 2-for-4, including a triple, as the 51s defeated the host Reno Aces 4-2 on Wednesday for their fifth straight win.

Las Vegas, which has the Pacific Coast League’s best record at 11-3, built a 3-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings. The Aces cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth before the 51s added another run in the fifth to lead 4-1. The Aces got that run back in their half of the fifth but never scored again, leaving nine runners on base.

Starting pitcher Logan Verrett (1-1) went five innings and allowed two runs to get the win. Relievers Miguel Socolovich, Vic Black and Jeff Walters combined to throw four shutout innings and limit the Aces (6-8) to two hits.

Archie Bradley (1-2) took the loss. The teams will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the third game of their four-game series.
