51s’ franchise-record 14-game winning streak ends at El Paso

Cody Decker went 4-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs to lead the El Paso Chihuahuas to a 10-6 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game Friday in El Paso, Texas.

The loss ended Las Vegas’ franchise-record 14-game winning streak.

The 51s’ first three batters reached base against Chihuahuas starter James Needy (3-2), and Alex Castellanos followed with a grand slam, his eighth homer of the season.

Decker connected for a two-run homer in the first and a grand slam in the second off 51s starter Darin Gorski (2-2), who gave up seven runs on five hits and five walks in 1 1/3 innings.

Rymer Liriano had a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning and a leadoff homer in the eighth for El Paso (18-11), which had a 12-8 edge in hits.

Matt Reynolds’ RBI single in the seventh for the 51s (20-9) was answered by back-to-back doubles by Ramiro Pena and Jake Goebbert in the bottom of the inning.
