International League wins Triple-A All-Star Game

Indianapolis catcher Tony Sanchez hit a three-run homer in the second inning, and the International League all-stars defeated the Pacific Coast League 4-3 in the Triple-A All-Star Game at Reno Aces Ballpark on Wednesday.

Sanchez, the fourth overall pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2009 draft, finished 1-for-3 and was named one of the game’s Top Stars along with Memphis pitcher Michael Wacha.

Second baseman Wilmer Flores, the 51s’ lone representative, did not play.

Syracuse’s Zach Walters started at shortstop for the IL. The former Cimarron-Memorial athlete went 1-for-4 and scored on Sanchez’ home run.

Salt Lake’s Efren Navarro, a former UNLV player, went 0-for-2 for the PCL.
