John, er Don, Stockton debuts in new State Farm ad

NBA all-time assist leader John Stockon made his debut as his fictitious twin brother Don Stockton in a new State Farm commercial on Christmas day.

Chief Assist Officer “Don” Stockton, described as “the State Farm agent with over 15,000 assists and one expression,” recruits fellow State Farm agent “Cliff” Paul, Chris Paul’s made-up twin brother, to join the National Bureau of Assists (NBA, get it?).

Paul agrees and joins “assisting’s new starting five,” which also includes:

  • Sebastian Curry (Stephen, Golden State Warriors)
  • Darius Lillard (Damian, Portland Trail Blazers)
  • Summer Bird (Sue, Seattle Storm)

“The person I’m sure I was probably the most excited about was John Stockton,” Paul told the LA Times. “First of all, I have never seen him in a commercial, period.”

Stockton, who’s never been on to seek the spotlight, spent his entire 19-year NBA career with the Utah Jazz. He is the league’s all-time assists leader with 15,806 assists.
