Betting trends for college football bowls

The Gold Sheet handicapper Bruce Marshall provides the Review-Journal with college football tech notes and trends from Goldsheet.com:

Texas A&M vs. Wake Forest (Belk Bowl): Wake Forest is 9-3 against the spread this season and on an extended 21-9 ATS run. The Aggies are on a 1-3 spread skid in bowls and on a 6-19 ATS slide in the last five games of the season since 2013. Edge: Wake Forest.

North Carolina State vs. Arizona State (Sun Bowl): The Sun Devils are on a 7-2-1 ATS run overall and on a 5-1 spread surge as an underdog. The Wolfpack are on a 4-7-1 ATS skid but on a 13-5 under uptick. Edge: Arizona State and under.

Kentucky vs. Northwestern (Music City Bowl): Kentucky is on a 1-7 spread slide overall and on an 0-3 ATS skid in bowls. Northwestern has covered 9 of its last 10 games, including seven straight. Edge: Northwestern.

Southern California vs. Ohio State (Cotton Bowl): The Trojans are on a 4-10 spread slide overall, on a 1-4 ATS skid in bowls and on a 1-9 ATS slide as an underdog. The Buckeyes are on a 14-7 ATS run away from home and have won and covered three of their last four bowl games. Edge: Ohio State.

Louisville vs. Mississippi State (TaxSlayer Bowl): The Bulldogs are on a 15-7 ATS run as underdogs. The Cardinals are on a 4-1 ATS surge. Edge: Mississippi State.

Washington vs. Penn State (Fiesta Bowl): The Nittany Lions are on a 1-3 ATS skid following a 16-2 spread streak. Penn State coach James Franklin is 4-2 straight up and ATS in bowls. Chris Petersen is 1-2 ATS in bowls with the Huskies. Edge: slight to Penn State.

Wisconsin at Miami (Orange bowl): The Badgers have covered their last three bowl games and are on a 20-8-1 ATS tear overall. The Hurricanes are 5-7 ATS this season, 0-3 in their last three. Edge: slight to Wisconsin.

South Carolina vs. Michigan (Outback Bowl): Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh is on a 7-11-1 spread slide while Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp is on an 8-4-1 ATS uptick. South Carolina also is on a 7-0-1 spread run as an underdog. Edge: South Carolina.

UCF vs. Auburn (Peach Bowl): The Knights are on a 15-9-1 ATS run and on an 8-3 spread surge away from home. The Tigers are 1-2 straight up and ATS in their last three bowls and are on a 6-12 ATS slide overall. Edge: UCF.

LSU vs. Notre Dame (Citrus Bowl): The Tigers are on a 6-0 spread surge and an extended 13-6-1 ATS run. LSU also is 7-1-1 ATS in its last nine away from Baton Rouge. The Fighting Irish are on an 0-4 spread skid overall and are only 1-4 ATS in their last five bowls. Edge: LSU.

Georgia vs. Oklahoma (CFP, Rose Bowl): The Sooners are on a 4-7 spread skid in bowls and are 3-4 ATS in their last seven away from Norman. The Bulldogs are on a 10-4 ATS uptick overall and are 8-1 ATS in their last nine away from Athens. Edge: Georgia.

Alabama vs. Clemson (CFP, Sugar Bowl): Clemson has covered this matchup in the past two national championship games. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney has covered nine of his last 10 bowls and conference title games. Clemson is riding a 4-0 ATS run overall and is on an extended 11-4-1 spread run. The Crimson Tide are on a 5-8 ATS slide. Edge: Clemson.
