Horse Racing: Today at Del Mar, Nov. 14

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $36,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 Buymeabond – With so many speed types in the field, and the turf rail out 30 feet, multiple jockeys figure to leave; trainer Jonathan Wong is a new one to SoCal fans.
2 Home School – Draw a line thru last dirt race where he was overmatched in class and on soil; returns to turf where he should show a lot of early speed from the inside.
Long Shot – 3 Unusual Taste

Race 2 – 6 ½ furlongs, Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Big Move – Not sure why she is switching back to dirt after some good dirt races; has been working bullets and gets main man Rafael Bejarano to ride.
1 Parasail – Exits a MSW graduation win, now facing winners for the first time; this is always a steep rise in class as the foes get faster and more experienced.
Long Shot – 6 Rockin Dorita

Race 3 – 6 ½ furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Take It Easyplease – Big rider switch to Santiago Gonzalez for the money shot; he is a strong rider, finisher, and will try to coerce this one to pass one more horse.
4 Kiss My Face – Speedy sort figures to be among those who will want, fight, for the early lead; found success when dropped down for this bottom level $20K class.
Long Shot – 8 Catalina Bonita

Race 4 – 5 furlongs (turf, rail at 50 feet), Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Perdona – Like the cutback in distance where she broke her MSW going a 2-turn mile; don’t expect her to fight for the early lead, but should come flying fast late.
8 Lily Pod – Another who exits a MSW win to face winners for the first time; when Rafael Bejarano rides, his horses always get overbet, so don’t expect fair value.
Long Shot – 7 Codacious

Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Gold Chaser – This bugboy still is green as a bullfrog, but this horse has the talent to get the job done; stay on the rail and don’t do anything dumb.
5 Market Notes – Tepid chalk in a really difficult heat, Rafael Bejarano will get the most out of this horse; the Pick 6 started in race 4 with a decent carryover of $39K.
Long Shot – 3 Devil Rising

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
2 Ya Ya Girl – Has finished in the money in five straight starts; those are nibbler tendencies, but this is not much of a field so we’ll see who survives to the finish.
4 Arewehavingfunyet – Ran a career best effort in last when closed stoutly for third; her two best races clearly have come when she races for a price tag.
Long Shot – 1 Socialized

Race 7 – 1 mile, Purse $53,000, Optional claiming 440,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 Brimstoned – Have to be impressed with his three race win skein; he’s moved up in class while going farther in distance, but has yet to be stopped.
8 Rockport Kat – Having a solid season finishing in the money in all eight starts and earning more than $241K; already is a stakes winner, so won’t be intimidated here.
Long Shot – 6 Grazen Sky

Race 8 – 7 furlongs, $100,000 Bob Hope, 2-year-olds
4 Toews On Ice – Was always highly regarded, but put it together in his last two starts; the fact he broke him maiden in a stakes is not a big deal to me.
2 Jury – Says a lot that Rafael Bejarano had options and chose this colt for the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; has perfect tactical speed to stalk the early pace.
Long Shot – 3 Street Vision

Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds
13 Basinca – Figures to draw in off the also eligible list; showed a lot of talent in career debut and figures to improve with experience for trainer Doug O’Neill.
7 Drefong – Was heavily favored in debut and ran like a short horse; Bob Baffert babies certainly improve with experience, this one keeps working fast too.
Long Shot – 4 Watch My Dust

Best Bet – 7 Brimstoned (race 7)
Del Mar Friday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/6/$37.40; Long Shots, 7/1/$12.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Del Mar Totals – 165/49/$277.60; Long Shots, 79/6/$62.60; Best Bets, 10/5/$15.40
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #6 Kaigun (3/1) in race 7 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Friday, Angelic Score was scratched at Churchill Downs. Stats – 168/111/$830.10; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
